Native American/Explorer Project
As a preview to our Exploration Unit, students will choose a Native American or Explorer to learn more about. Students will choose one of the two project options below to complete:
Bio-Bottle Museum
You Need:
You Need to Include:
Guidelines:
- 2 Liter Bottle
- Sand/dirt/pebbles to Stabilize
- Art Supplies
- Internet Access
You Need to Include:
- Bottle: (40 points)
- 2 Liter Bottle decorated to represent the individual you chose. (10 pts)
- Name of the Explorer or Native American (5 pts)
- Identify the country the explorer sailed for and when he explored (not necessarily the same as where he was born) or tribe name for Native American (5 pts)
- Explorer/Native American goals, achievements, or discoveries (10 pts)
- Map of Voyages/areas claimed or area where tribe settled for Native American (indicate movement if tribe or individual moved)(10 pts)
- Your name on the bottom of the bottle in sharpie
- Essay Component Typed: (60 pts)
- Introduction w/ Thesis statement regarding explorers impact on history (15 pts)
- Do not write that your individual was the best explorer/Native American or without this explorer...
- Biographical information: birth and death dates and 3 additional important pieces of information from his life. This should help prove your thesis. (20 pts)
- conclusion (15 pts)
- Work Cited page with at least 3 other (than biography.com) credible resources (10 pts)
- Introduction w/ Thesis statement regarding explorers impact on history (15 pts)
Guidelines:
- The explorer/Native American you choose must be relevant to the time period we will be discussing meaning they must have been born prior to American Independence. This is non-negotiable, no credit will be given for any Explorer/Native American born after 1763.
- Please be diligent in your research, incorrect information will not receive credit. This will make up the bulk of your points (60 pts) so do a good job.
- You must use and cite more resources than biography.com. Do not use Wikipedia or socialstudiesforkids.com.
- This project will be due Aug. 29th.

- T-shirt decorated to represent the individual you chose. (10 pts)
- Name of the Explorer or Native American (5 pts)

- Title for your world tour
- Explorer/Native Americans goals, achievements, or discoveries (10 pts)
